Effective for all bookings with Ride Car Rental

At Ride Car Rental we believe renting a vehicle should be simple, transparent, and tailored to your needs. Below you’ll find our full fee and cost guide — designed to help you plan your trip with confidence, understand all charges upfront, and enjoy a smooth rental experience.

1. Vehicle Rental Rates

Our daily rates start from as little as $40 for longer-term rentals, making Ride one of the most affordable options for extended stays in Perth. To keep things fair and flexible, shorter rental periods carry a slightly higher daily rate, reflecting the convenience of quick turnarounds and short-term access. Whether you’re planning a few days in the city or a longer stay, our pricing is designed to give you the best value for your trip.

Rates are inclusive of GST and apply to standard vehicles unless otherwise specified.

Where a rental period is extended into a higher discount tier, the adjusted rate will apply from the date of extension and will not be backdated, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Each vehicle includes a daily kilometre allowance of 150 km, designed to accommodate most daily travel needs comfortably. If you exceed this allowance, an additional charge of $1.00 per extra kilometre applies. This fee helps us maintain our fleet’s quality and manage wear and tear fairly.

We have a minimum rental period of 3 days.

2. Fuel Policy

Vehicles are provided with a full fuel tank and must be returned similarly. If you return the vehicle with less fuel, a fuel refill charge of $3.00 per litre applies. We encourage you to refuel before return to avoid additional fees.

3. Damage Liability and Ride Waivers

3.1 General Liability

You acknowledge and agree that you bear financial responsibility for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle during the rental period. The maximum financial exposure (“Loss Damage Liability” or “LDL”) is contingent upon the Ride Waiver selected, as further detailed below.

3.2 Ride Waiver Options and Coverage

Ride Car Rentals offers the following four-tiered Ride Waiver options, each conferring a defined capped excess and varying degrees of coverage on specific ancillary damage items (tyres, windscreen, vehicle keys, vehicle accessories, and towing fees):

No percentage-based coverage applies to any tier other than Ride Risky, which carries a 0% coverage rate. Accordingly, all tiers are afforded full coverage except for Ride Risky, which is excluded from coverage entirely.

Ride Risky is automatically added to your rental agreement but does not offer any insurance nor excess deduction. The three tiers other than Ride Risky offer insurance and excess deduction, each tier increases in coverage and excess deduction.

3.3 Liability and Payment Obligations

  • 3.3.1 Your liability for any incident of damage or loss shall be the lesser of (a) the actual cost of repair or replacement (including applicable administrative fees), or (b) the capped excess amount corresponding to the Ride Waiver selected and specified in your Rental Agreement.
  • 3.3.2 Ancillary damage items, including tyres, windscreen, keys, vehicle accessories, and towing fees, are covered at 25% under Ride Value, 50% under Ride Premium, and 100% under Ride Executive, subject only to the applicable capped excess. For Ride Risky tier, no ancillary damage coverage applies, and you remain liable for full costs.
  • 3.3.3 Administrative fees are in addition to repair or replacement costs and are payable in all cases.
  • 3.3.4 Should the loss or damage arise from Prohibited Use, gross negligence, or any breach of the Rental Agreement, Ride Waivers will not apply, and you shall remain fully liable for all associated costs and losses, without limitation.

3.4 Additional Clarifications

For the avoidance of doubt:

  • 3.4.1 If the actual cost of damage is less than the applicable capped excess, you will only be charged the actual cost (plus administration fees), not the full capped amount.
  • 3.4.2 For tiers with ancillary damage coverage, your liability for those items is limited to the applicable capped excess; ancillary damage costs beyond the excess are covered in full. No percentage or proportional coverage applies.
  • 3.4.3 Ride Waivers do not cover loss or damage to personal belongings or optional accessories unless expressly stated.

4. Fees and Penalties

To uphold the integrity of our fleet and ensure equitable treatment for all customers, the following fees and penalties are applied as appropriate:

  • Damage Handling Fee: $120
    Applied to cover administrative costs associated with processing and managing any vehicle damage incidents.
  • Accident Administration Fee: $120
    Charged to manage the administrative workload arising from accidents involving our vehicles.
  • Fine Administration Fee: $50
    Covers processing costs for any traffic or parking fines incurred during the rental period.
  • Delivery or Collection Fee (per trip): $50
    Applicable for each trip made to deliver or collect vehicles outside of standard pick-up or drop-off arrangements.
  • Out-of-Hours Service Fee: $50
    Levied when vehicle services or handovers occur outside of our standard operating hours.
  • Cleaning Fee: $120
    Charged when vehicles are returned in a condition that requires extensive cleaning beyond normal wear.
  • Smoking Fee: $500
    Enforced strictly under our no-smoking policy to maintain vehicle hygiene and comfort for all clients.
  • Loss of Use Fee: $90 per day
    Compensates for revenue lost while a vehicle is unavailable due to damage or other issues.
  • Late Return Fees:
    • Up to 59 minutes late: No charge
    • 60 to 119 minutes late: 50% of the daily rental rate
    • 120 minutes or more late: Full daily rental rate
  • Early Return Fee: 70% of the daily rate for each unused day
    This fee assists with managing fleet availability and scheduling efficiency.
  • Severe Penalties:
    • Unauthorised use outside permitted areas: $2,000
    • Reckless driving: $2,000
    • Unauthorised sub-renting: $2,000

These measures are in place to protect our customers and the fleet, ensuring a consistent, reliable experience for all parties. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

5. Security Deposit and Insurance

  • Security Deposit – $700 – $1,000 (refundable, subject to vehicle condition):
  • A refundable security deposit of $700 – $1,000 is required at the commencement of the rental. This amount is securely held on your nominated payment method and serves as a safeguard against potential damage, excessive wear, or unpaid charges. The full deposit is refunded following a satisfactory return inspection, subject to deduction of any outstanding amounts or damage. Deposit value depends on Ride Waiver selected.
  • Standard Insurance Excess – Varies by selected Ride Waiver option, ranging from $4,000 to $500:
    The capped amount you may be liable for in the event of damage, theft, or loss depends on your chosen Ride Waiver tier, with excesses set at $4,000 (Ride Risky), $2,500 (Ride Value), $1,500 (Ride Premium), and $500 (Ride Executive). This excess applies per incident and is subject to the terms and exclusions of the rental agreement.
  • Excess Waiver – Optional:
    To reduce or eliminate your liability under the standard excess, an excess waiver can be added to your rental. This optional coverage provides additional protection and peace of mind, minimising your financial risk in the event of an incident.

6. Optional Extras

Enhance your rental experience with a range of convenient add-ons, designed to provide comfort, safety, and flexibility. All optional extras are charged per day:

These extras can be selected at the time of booking or added prior to vehicle collection, subject to availability. Please contact us if you have specific requirements or questions.

7. Administration and Service Fees

To ensure smooth operations and maintain the quality of our fleet, the following administrative and service charges may apply:

  • Damage or Accident Administration Fees
    These fees cover the processing and management of any damage or incident reports involving the vehicle.
  • Delivery and Collection Fees
    A fee is charged for each trip where a vehicle is delivered to or collected from a location other than our designated pickup point.
  • Cleaning and Smoking Fees
    We ask that all vehicles be returned in a reasonably clean condition. A cleaning fee applies where excessive dirt is present. A substantial penalty will be charged for any evidence of smoking, in line with our strict no-smoking policy.

8. Usage and Return Policies

  • Timely Returns
    To avoid disruption to the next customer and to prevent additional charges, please ensure your vehicle is returned on time. Late return fees are applied based on the duration of delay.
  • Early Returns
    Returning a vehicle before the scheduled end of the rental period may result in a partial charge for the unused days, to assist in managing fleet logistics and availability.
  • Prohibited Conduct
    Penalties of up to $2,000 apply for high-risk behaviour, including but not limited to: reckless driving, use of the vehicle in unauthorised areas, or sub-renting. These measures help us maintain safety and reliability for all users.

9. Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy aims to be fair while accounting for the costs associated with holding and preparing a vehicle:

  • Cancellations more than 48 hours before pick-up: $50 cancellation fee
  • Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours before pick-up: $100 cancellation fee
  • Cancellations less than 24 hours before pick-up: $150 cancellation fee

All cancellation fees are inclusive of administrative costs. No additional flat fee applies in addition to the above.
